Basic Portuguese Phrases
- Fala inglês? Do you speak English?
- Há alguém aqui que fala inglês? Does anyone here speak English?
- Desculpe-me por falar tão mal o português. Excuse my poor Portuguese.
- Só falo um pouco de português. I only speak a little Portuguese.
- Bom dia. Good morning.
- Boa tarde. Good afternoon.
- Boa noite. Good night.
Portuguese Phrases: Meeting and Greeting
- É um prazer conhecê-lo. I am pleased to meet you.
- Falaram-me muito de você. I have heard so much about you.
- Que disse? What did you say?
- Não entendo. I don't understand.
- Compreende? Do you understand?
- Compreendo perfeitamente. I understand perfectly.
- Compreendo-o se falar devagar. I understand if you speak slowly.
- É muito melhor. That is much better.

Portuguese at the Doctor's Office
- As juntas estão doendo muito. My joints really hurt.
- E estou muito enjoado. And I'm very nauseous.
- Estou com dor de cabeça. I have a headache.
- Estou com febre. I have a fever.
- Estou passando muito mal. I'm feeling really sick.
- Olá, doutor. Hello, doctor.
- O que será? What could it be?
